The world-renowned and Grammy-nominated Three Dog Night (TDN) performed their greatest hits before an incredible audience of over 800 people at the Paramount Hudson Valley Theater on Thursday, Feb. 22, in Peekskill, NY.
The audience clapped, sang, and danced as the band played their famous songs like “One,” “Joy to the World,” “Fire Eater,” and “Never Been to Spain.” Many long-time fans of TDN thought they played just as well as they did when they first started listening to them many years ago.
“We’ve been listening to their music for 50 years,” Mahopac resident and patron Andy Hyslop said. “The vocals were incredible, they can still harmonize very well.”
The band even premiered a brand-new song titled “Prayer of the Children” in honor of the children who lost their lives during the Parkland, Florida high school shooting, which made the audience very emotional.
Patrons said that given the opportunity they would definitely see TDN perform again.
“[We got to] see these guys while they’re still here because they’re not going to be around forever,” Len Hyslop said. “I’m impressed they’re still around for Christ sakes. I’m impressed I’m still around.”
Chris Berado’s Acoustic Trio opened for TDN and they were well received by the audience as well.
“The warm-up band, the acoustic band was great,” patron Chris Marconi said. “The guy had a great voice, I’ve never heard of them before but I’m going to look them up.”
Patrons have been very impressed with the lineup of shows the Paramount has been offering lately.
“The Paramount is bringing in some good shows, this is like what, the third or fourth show we’ve seen in like six months,” Len Hyslop said. “I love the theater. I’ve been coming here since the late 1960’s, it’s still a beautiful theater and may it live forever.”
Patrons also enjoyed the comfortable accommodations that the theater provides for its patrons.
“For someone who went to concerts back in the hay-day and all, I don’t like crowds anymore so a small venue like this is just perfect. You can see the older bands and I just love it,” Len Hyslop said.
