The critically acclaimed and award-winning heavy metal band Blue Öyster Cult (BÖC) returned to Paramount Hudson Valley Theater and performed live before a tremendous audience on Fri., January 19 in Peekskill, NY.
An uproarious crowd of approximately a thousand concertgoers cheered BOC throughout the show as the band performed their greatest hits including “Then Came the Last Days of May,” “Burnin’ for You,” “Godzilla,” and their iconic “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper.”
“[BÖC] is always good, it’s great to see that they’re still touring after 45 years,” Patron and Putnam Valley Resident Ryan Tatnell said. “The fact that they can still put on a good show and they’re pushing 70-years-old is pretty cool.”
Patrons who were familiar with BÖC were amazed how the band can still perform so well after they’ve been around for decades. Fans of BÖC also felt as though the band has only gotten better with age.
“The time change during the Last Days of May, that was really awesome. We’ve been listening to Blue Öyster Cult for 30 years and heard that song at least 15 different ways and that was the best version I’ve ever heard,” Rob Wilbarg said.
Fans were specifically impressed with Richie Castellano’s incredible guitar skills and chemistry with the band.
“Richie Castellano is a great guitar player, he’s been a nice addition to the band since he’s been with them,” Tatnell said. “Him going toe-to-toe with Buck Dharma on the solos is always awesome.”
In addition to BÖC, the audience got to hear The Artie Tobia Duo kick off the evening.
“The opener was very good, I was surprised how good they were,” Patron Dom Pratico said.
This is the second time BÖC has performed at the Paramount in as many years and patrons said if given the opportunity, many of them would attend again.
Patrons also mentioned how they enjoy seeing shows at the Paramount due to its intimate atmosphere, making it very easy to see and hear the acts regardless of which seats they purchased.
“I love the size of the Paramount, you can see really well from wherever you are, it’s intimate,” Staib said.
