Actor, writer, and comedian JB Smoove performed his stand-up routine before a packed house at the Paramount Hudson Valley Theater on Apr. 6 in Peekskill, NY.
The night began with a burst of fun, when comedian Hugh Moore opened for Smoove. About 45 minutes into the show, Moore thanked the audience and introduced Smoove to deafening applause and cheers.
A montage of clips featuring Smoove as Leon on HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm was then projected on the Paramount’s big screen. Laughter filled the theater as scenes of Leon interacting with Larry David were shown right before everyone’s eyes.
Judging by the reactions to the montage, it was very clear that many of the patrons were fans of Curb Your Enthusiasm, specifically of Smoove and his character on the show.
“I thought JB was hysterical, I’ve been following him ever since I saw Curb Your Enthusiasm,” Patron Jacqueline said.
Smoove, having been raised in Mount Vernon, mentioned during his set that he is from Westchester. He even went as far to say that he prefers New York over California, where he currently resides.
Throughout his routine, Smoove effortlessly described hilarious situations that have occurred throughout his life.
“I got a big laugh when he was talking about the police officers,” Patron Nicole said. “My husband’s an ex-police officer, so I can relate to the story about not wanting to get out of the car.”
After the show, Smoove stuck around to meet with any fan that wanted a handshake or a quick photo and those in attendance definitely appreciated the entire package that Smoove brought to Peekskill.
“I think it was all around a great experience,” Patron Alyssa said. “ten out of ten.”
